The lack of a “cookie cutter” approach can be very frustrating in finding the right nutrition program for you. Some elite athletes subscribe to a high fat, high calorie diet. Others, are more in line with the “zone” and some “paleo.” Also, depending on your goals, you could fit into a number of different categories. With guidelines and theories of nutrition ever evolving, there has always remained one constant truth: If you consume more calories than you burn you will gain weight, if you burn more calories than you consume you will lose weight. The goal is to find the right combination to make your body as efficient as possible. WHAT IS PALEO? The Paleo Diet is a way of eating in the modern age that best mimics diets of our hunter-gatherer ancestors – combinations of lean meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. By eating the foods that we are genetically adapted to eat, followers of the Paleo Diet are naturally lean, have acne-free skin, improved athletic performance, and are experiencing relief from numerous metabolic-related and autoimmune diseases.

No sugars. Agave, organic honey, molasses, pure spun golden sunshine….it doesn’t matter. They are all equally bad for you. No artificial sweeteners. These are not food! Creepy laboratory products with sketchy safety records, artificial sweeteners have been shown to produce an insulin response. Bottom line is we are trying to stay away from processed food, food that is difficult for our body to process like grains and dairy, and just eat real food to fuel our bodies. Our standards are pretty high but so are our results. Nutrition is the foundation for everything else you do. If we can’t feed ourselves well, we cannot live well in any other area. Through individualized Nutrition Coaching and by combining the Paleo diet food choices with Zone quantities we can give our students a formula for the types and amounts of fuel to use.
