If you weren’t here this evening, you missed out. The evening was filled with fun, friends, motivation, compassion, teamwork and mental toughness. Coach Luke just accomplished a task completed by few in the world: 1,000 pull ups and 1,000 push ups was his conquest and he completed the WOD in 4 hours and 56 minutes. I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of him. Not only is he a great coach, mentor and motivator but he leads by example and pushes through to the end and will not quit. It’s 10:30pm and the party has been over for over an hour but in the room next door there were a bunch of CrossFitters staying here to cheer him on.
Over 300 people came through the doors this evening, students, family, friends and those curious about CrossFit and what we do so here’s the scoop: Founded in October of 2008 CrossFit Scottsdale Powered by Kayyem Fitness was built inside the back of a 700 sq. foot wellness center with pergo floors and wall to wall mirror. After 6 short months we found our second home here on 83rd place with 2,700 square feet. Now here we are 2 years later… We knocked down a wall to create what you see in the gym today 5,000 square feet of an elite training facility that changes lives for the better.
From the beginning, we decided not to participate in the recession by doing the right things for the right people for the right reasons. As we began building relationships within the community with other like minded individuals our VISION of developing a comprehensive program began to grow and now includes various levels of CrossFit classes, CrossFit Kids, women’s only classes, nutrition education, CrossFit Scottsdale Connections Networking Group, yoga, gymnastics, an Endurance class, strength bias, competition classes and the world renown SealFit school, a program very close to Coach Luke’s heart as the only civilian in the country allowed to teach special warfare training. We have also become the alternative physical education program for home schooled children and private schools in the area.
We now have over 45 classes a week that range from 5am to 7pm. This no excuse policy holds every student accountable to achieve their goals whether it’s to run a mile for the 1st time in 20 years, loose 20lbs or lift 200lbs over their head. From ages 3 to 70 every student that walks through these doors will learn the power of dedication, discipline and accountability.
We also do our best to give back. In the past 3 years we have created 25 jobs here at CFS for our students. We have also made a commitment to always utilize our own students and their companies first to conduct our day to day business and I am proud to say that 100% of our expansion efforts including the construction, the fabrication of new equipment, technology enhancements, the real estate transaction and much more have been accomplished with our immediate gym network.
Our public service goes beyond just these walls; over the last 3 years CrossFit Scottsdale has donated over $50,000 to worthwhile causes that change lives, like Arizona Baseball Charities, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club, Mammograms in Action, The Wounded Warrior Project and various other foundations that are near and dear to our student’s hearts.
As the first CrossFit in Scottsdale our experience matters, we are the pioneers of the movement, the leaders in the industry and we will continue to forge the future of fitness. What we do works, our programs, systems, training methods and protocols are being used by local affiliates and Coaches all over the world.
At the end of the day none of this would matter and we wouldn’t be where we are today without you, our students, the ones that have been with us for 3 years and those that have been with us for 3 days you are the future of health and wellness in this great country and we will always be humble and grateful for your dedication to a better life.
We’ve brought CrossFit to the masses because life has no off season, work capacity is to fitness what location is to real estate. Our objective is to do more work in less time. To us, fitness is a state of mind, a way of being; it makes you a better person at everything you do. It shows up in the way you present yourself, it’s in your attitude and in your character. In one way shape or form our community shares the same core values here. We all believe that being physically fit and healthy is inspiring; it feels good, builds confidence, enriches our lives and allows us to live our best by becoming better leaders, parents, children, and people. At CrossFit Scottsdale it’s simple we “Show up and Don’t Quit”
