CrossFit Scottsdale Kids Summer Fitness Camp a HUGE Success!

What did your kids do this summer???? We kicked off the summer with our first Kids Summer Camp session here at CrossFit Scottsdale!  Kids ages 5-12 spent 4 hours a day learning new exercise skills, movements and routines, played fitness games and got to try new healthy snacks creating healthy nutrition habits and having a ton of FUN.  The session started out with a Level 1 test and baseline workout to see the fitness level the kids were starting with.  Each day focused on a specific skill ranging from the squat & presses to the Deadlift and the clean.  Time was spent on form and practice was done with 2 workouts each day. Games included tug of war, CrossFit Dodgeball, CrossFit Freeze tag and more.  A big focus was on nutrition.  They learned to make healthy choices at each meal and get creative with healthy snack ideas and recipes including a camp favorite, Paleo Spinach Ice Cream!  On the final day parents were invited to watch the Level 1 test and see the improvement the campers made over the 2 weeks.  It was also a chance for campers to earn their level 1 “white band”.  Jump ropes went from 20 in a row to 52, hang holds from 8 seconds to 47 seconds, and ultimately everyone improved in more than one area.  A HUGE thanks goes to Coach Erin, Tyler, Claire, Amy, and Erika, you made this camp a success! We had a BLAST and can’t wait for the next session that starts July 11th!  To Pre-register for session 2 the Hero Health & Fitness Camp click here.
