Prepared for anything

In a true CrossFit competition you never know what you’re going to get into,
especially when it’s in the region of the world it was originated… Northern California.
You do know what kind of weather you’re going to get… cold, wet and raining.
Both did not disappoint this past weekend at the 2011 “Courage Games” hosted by fitness icon Josh Courage.

As I rolled into Coyote Park at 0600 Saturday morning with my lifelong friend Chris LaLanne of LaLanne Fitness drinking a coffee and laying back with the heater on high, I don’t think I realized I was about to spend the day in 40 degree weather doing WODS in the rain. So I will start by thanking my wife… for watching me spend the day doing WODS in the rain. Actually I am pretty sure she had fun you can probably hear it on the video. She’s the one YELLING and encouraging me to go HARDER. So I did. I placed 4th out of 25 behind the winner and Top CrossFit Gamer Neil Maddux. It was a true test of speed, strength and skill 3 qualities you must own if your training for the CrossFit Games. The conditions were horrible which made things more exciting and changing clothes, eating snacks and warming up all became a process that takes total effort. Fortunately for me I was at home… I actually had more people cheering me on than some local guys. Thanks to my family Chris and Maribel LaLanne who had all 3 of their Team’s compete, place and win 1st, 2nd and 3rd for TOTAL DOMINATION. Chris runs his BOX like we do… family first, competitive nature and a FUN atmosphere. Even when things get uncomfortable we found ways to laugh and so we all should. This weekend we will be flying out to Texas to test our skills against the Southwest Throwdown.
